Menu Planner

Morning All,

You know that feeling when you start a project that is amazing then it all comes crumbling down, well here is my most recent one.

My friend Ros from Sew Delicious  recently posted her menu planning tips, I had been using my iPad but just found that it really wasn't keeping me on track and I wanted something in the kitchen.

So I cut my vinyl and stuck it on the fridge.

Then I literally spent hours designing these little menu items, printed them, and the printer ran out of ink!

I decided it was a minor set back and carried on.

Made the magnets using my Xyron Sticker maker with the magnetic cartridge and started taking pictures, the weather has become cold and dark this week and for the life of me, I could not get a decent picture.

I carried on, and took a picture anyway and low and behold I chose the only one with a spelling mistake, which I did not notice until I had finished writing the post.

Here are many of the others all with correct spelling, I checked!

DIY Delight or Disaster?

The Menu Planner is a delight! I am using it and it is helping keep me organised and on track. I am disappointed about the printing side of it (and the mistake) so the magnets are a disaster. But they can be fixed as soon as I get to the office supplies place and get some ink so all in all, no biggie.

Thanks for reading,

Mel xo

  1. That is awesome!! Such a great idea. What is a Xyron Machine - I've never heard of it!

  2. I must be illiterate, I didn't see a spelling error. Sometimes my brain sees what it knows it's supposed to see and doesn't see misspelled words. My brain did not see margarita's on that list so it must be a disaster! :) Super cute idea!

  3. It looks really cool! I would use one if I had it, don't know that I'd go to the trouble of making one though ;-) you've done a great job!

  4. What a fab idea - looks excellent. Hope it helps out your planning.

    Hello from #teamIBOT

  5. Wow. What a great idea. You are on an organizational roll. Do you still get the 'what's for dinner' questions? And, where is the mom's night off from cooking magnet :)

  6. That is awesome!! Such a great idea.

  7. I think definite delight! I had to look 'Sheperd's' up to make sure that was the misspell...goodness I haven't had spelling/vocab for far too long. ;)

  8. Just pretend it's the Australian spelling and you have DIY delight.

  9. Oh, such a good idea. My crap fridge is only magnetic on the side. Tell me why? I just don't get it. LOL.

  10. That's a great idea and it looks good too ! Never mind the spelling ;-)

  11. Super cute and functional .. Cant beat that girl .. Love it

  12. What a great project! I menu plan but it's hand written on some paper and pegged to the calendar, not nearly as fancy as this!

  13. I have fallen waaaay off the wagon with my menu planning :( yours is fab though, bright and easy to maintain!

I really must do better lol.

Have a great day, Estelle xx

  14. That is incredible! I would say a DIY delight! i think about dinner usually ten minutes before it needs to be served up - so this is amazing for me xx

  15. I go through periods where I plan and others where I don't. Planning certainly reduces stress! I need to get myself organised again. But magnets wouldn't work here...the kids would probably play with them :)

  16. That is way too cute Mel. You put a lot of effort into that beauty! I keep my menu list in hubby's brain. Luckily for me he does most of the cooking; luckily for all of us....lol.

  17. I think it's cute! Are you really serving WheataBix (or whatever that Brit stuff is)? And you actually have cereal on the menu? See, that's my problem...I cook a whole meal at least 6 nights a week...no wonder I'm tired!! I'm old and never learned to tell my husband..."eat cereal"...BRAVO for the emancipated women out there!
Planning is good though.....I do it, and have a shopping list to match so I can shop at the same time that I'm planning projects....I'm on automatic in the grocery....

  18. Mel, this is such a great idea, and they turned out so cute. I'm terrible about planning meals, don't even try any more. But with just two of us, it's easier to just fend for ourselves most times.

  19. What a great solution!! It looks really cute up there on your fridge too! I am seriously considering getting me some vinyl...you are too clever with it!

  20. Fantastic idea, Mel! I love that it's on your fridge. Handy and helfpul!

  21. Spot on! It's a great idea and fun and creative way to keep your kitchen meal organized. Nice job!

  22. Well I certainly missed this one altogether! What a great idea and I wish I'd thought of it when my kids were small. Now...it doesn't matter what I fix or when, because more often than not, Sam get called out to work at dinner time! I don't know why you didn't just haul that fridge out to the sunlight to get a good picture Mel!!!

  23. Once apon a time I planned meals (like back in the 1990's). Sometimes I go back and use the plan. It is pages in front of my cookbook. Each page has a days menu with the cookbook name and page number for the recipe and a shoppping list on back. Works pretty good the days and weeks I don't feel in a planning mood. HA.

  24. What a great idea Mel!!! I think it's a success!!

Thanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer… From Dream To Reality! I’m looking forward to see what you link up tomorrow evening!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, between housework and 5 kids, this is the only thing I get out of bed for ;)
